Earlier this year I headed to Theobalds Park in Hertfordshire for a training course run by Brett Harkness. I have followed Brett's fabulous work for a while and most of his training courses are run up north, so when I saw this one was a bit nearer to home I jumped at the chance.
The morning started off in the "classroom" where all the photographers on the course grabbed a coffee before Brett talked to us about his business and his style, answering any questions that we fired at him. We then headed to one of the boardrooms to try out some photos using just natural light, reflective surfaces and different angles.
After a lovely lunch we went outside to explore the beautiful grounds at Theobalds Park, but first we started in a not so stunning area at the back of the venue (much to the confusion of the venue manager!) to create some amazing images using off camera flash.
I had a fantastic time on the course. Meeting all the other photographers, exploring different techniques and ideas, and trying things out. Brett is a great guy - very open and down to earth, lots of fun and happy to share his knowledge.
