We met Kennie and Shaun through Shaun’s mum and were so excited when they told us they were having a hand fasting ceremony. During the prep Kennie and Shaun got ready together at Shaun’s parents house surrounded by all their family. Chinese takeaway was delivered and everyone tucked in while Kennie had the finishing touches made to her make up and hair. After the food had all been eaten Shaun got ready and headed to the venue and left Kennie to put her dress on with a little help from her mum.
Their original plans were to hold their hand fasting ceremony on Rayleigh Mount but due to mixed weather they moved their ceremony to the courtyard at The Mill Arts and Events Centre in Rayleigh. The area was perfect as they were surrounded by trees and a beautiful flower arch, whilst their family and friends surrounded the couple up the stairs of the courtyard creating a lovely intimate ceremony. Anita Koch, the wonderful celebrant, held a beautiful, personal and very emotional ceremony. Shaun’s mum’s speech had everyone in tears as she explained to the couple how she had made the chord with different materials, all with a personal meaning and history. The emotion turned into laughter after the couples’s first kiss, when Shaun ended up with very red lips from his bride’s lipstick.
With The Rayleigh Windmill and gardens right next to their venue we spent some time there with Kennie and Shaun for their couple portraits before joining the all their guests for their reception and evening entertainment.
Mark Sapsford did a fantastic job as the MC for the day and kept the day running smoothly. After the sit down meal followed by a chocolate fountain, the Famous Potatoes set up ready to entertain all the guests for the evening’s barn dance. yee haw!!
We hope you enjoy their photos
