We love working at Maidens Barn and this was our first Winter Wedding at this fantastic venue.
Jane and Ben chose a Christmas theme to their wedding (Jane LOVES Christmas!) and this was shown beautifully in their colours, flowers, table decor, and even the food which included mince pies. The Christmas theme was carried through beautifully by the decorations in the venue, including fabulous Christmas trees, pine cones and tables named after reindeers.
On the morning of the wedding Jane and her bridesmaids got ready at Maidens Barn while Ben and his family were at Harwood House B&B in Great Dunmow. Once the boys were all dressed in their suits, accessorized with multicoloured Christmas socks, they drove over to Maidens Barn ready to greet the guests. The weather was quite mild for this time of year, with even a glimmer of sunshine in parts, but is was still nippy so the guests were greeted by Ben in the foyer before making their way through to the beautifully decorated Oak Barn for the ceremony.
Jane made her entrance to music played on piano by Piano DJ (if you are looking for music for your wedding you should definitely check them out). On the way back down the aisle Jane and Ben stopped for a kiss under the mistletoe that had been perfectly placed. Mulled wine and canapes helped to keep the guests warm while they mingled and congratulated the new Mr and Mrs.
Due to the now cold weather outside the group and family portraits were done inside, but this turned out to be great as we used the Christmas tree in some of the shots, although we did manage to venture outside to capture some couple portraits and shots of the bridal party.
The wedding breakfast was served and everyone sat down to enjoy the succulent lamb served by Barry, a great chef, before being entertained by some fantastic speeches, including some great props provided by the best men (check out Ben in his sailor hat and blonde wig!). The guests also had some props on their tables for fun and Christmas themed photos.
As the meal came to a close we made use of the beautiful balcony above the main barn and took the bride and groom up there to capture some lovely portraits using the Christmas lights to create some magical effects. The evening was rolling in so we took Jane and Ben into the gardens to create some great shots using sparklers and flash, to the amusement of some guests watching who thought we had gone totally mad.
Before long we were back inside for cake cutting and then into first dance, with music provided by the band The Bears. Throughout the day the guests had been making a marryoke video to the song "All I want for Christmas is you" created by Bridget and Colin from Colbridge Video, which was hilarious to watch being made (before we left we also joined in to record part of it with Bridget and Colin). After the first few songs of the evening, "All I want for Christmas is you" was played and all the guests gathered in a circle on the dance floor around Jane and Ben, as they danced and sang along to the song.
We would like to thank Jane and Ben for having us as their Maidens Barn Wedding Photographer and making us feel so welcome. It was such a fantastic day and we loved being a part of it. Here are a few images from their Christmas Wedding.
