When we first met with Rebecca and Steve they brought along Rebecca's little boy who had a fascination with lego, and when we then heard about the theme of their wedding we could see why. They had decided on a lego and lavender themed wedding with an outdoor ceremony at the beautiful Houchins Wedding Venue. The next time we met Rebecca and Steve was on their engagement shoot near their home in London where we found out how much fun this couple was - Steve had us in stitches when we asked them to practice their first dance and he started stretching and limbering up. We could tell then that their wedding was going to be a fantastic day, and it certainly was.
On the wedding day Rebecca and Steve both got ready in separate parts of the cottage in the grounds next to Houchins. A beautiful building with so much character and great lighting for the all important hair and make up.
Luckily the weather was kind so the couple were able to have their ceremony in the outside marquee in the beautiful grounds. Steve waited nervously as the girls, wearing beautiful blue bridesmaid dresses, took the walk through the gardens. Then Rebecca appeared with her father looking absolutely stunning. Steve was quite emotional as he watched her walking down the aisle.
The couple had lots of garden games arranged for the children (and some of the adults too!) whilst everyone enjoyed drinks and canapes in the garden. One of their good friends had made a very special "deckchair" for them in purple for the lavender with a lego bride and groom on it. It was enormous and held quite a few people and we were impressed that he had made it all himself.
Instead of a traditional receiving line, Rebecca and Steve stood with their parents at the entrance to the wedding breakfast room, with music playing, so that all the guests could dance past them and into the room which had everyone laughing. During the meal every table had a lego bucket and there was a lego building competition between the tables to see who could come up with the best design. This kept the adults entertained just as much as the kids. Speeches followed the meal and as expected were full of laughter with Steve, his best man and Rebecca's dad entertaining everyone with their stories.
After the meal we headed around the grounds to capture some photos with Rebecca and Steve. We also ventured into the cottage to make use of the beautiful interior and found one of their guests having a little nap. We also captured some photos of the couple being presented with a bottle of champagne from Houchins as this was the venue's 100th wedding. After the evening's dancing we headed back outside for a few sparkler photos including a special one to celebrate Houchins milestone wedding.
Rebecca and Steve's wedding was such a relaxed and fun day and we loved being there to capture it all for them. If you are looking for a Houchins Wedding Photographer please do get in touch.
