A Fabulous Layer Marney Tower Wedding featuring a German log sawing tradition - part one

We had a look at the pictures and they are amazing! Thank you
— Vivian and Ashley

This was the first Wedding we had the pleasure of photographing at the beautiful venue that is Layer Marney Tower and we were not to be disappointed. From the off with Ashley getting ready in the glamping area and Vivian at the beautiful house of Ashley's parents, to the fantastic night shots in the evening in front of the tower, the whole day was filled with fun.

Vivian is of German origin and all her family and friends were over to celebrate their special day. This added to the fun trying to communicate due to the language barrier but hand signs etc worked a treat.

After the ceremony canapes and drinks were served on the lawns and courtyard to the wonderful music from Caroline Pattrick playing violin.

With Vivian and Ashley's attention to detail there were many different places and objects to create stunning photographs, from a London bus, a vintage Rolls Royce and mobile food van serving frozen yogurt, to a huge log to be sawn, not forgetting the beautiful grounds  of Layer Marney.

The log sawing is a German tradition where the bride and groom  hold each end of a huge saw and cut through the log, after much laughter and sweat the task was completed with the assistance of some friends.

Due to the fantastic weather guests spent most of the day in the gardens and courtyard, and we were able to take advantage of this to do both family and group photos to couple portraits ably assisted by the grounds of Layer Marney.

It was great to see both sets of families getting on so well despite the language barrier, even the speeches were done in two languages with the help of an interpreter/ family member, which brought much laughter from all the guests.

As evening fell and darkness drew in the mobile van served fish and chips or curried German sausage as  the guests moved inside for cake cutting and first dance, with music provided by the band Neon Lights.

As guests continued to dance the night away we slipped off to get some beautiful  evening shots of Vivian and Ashley beside the Tower.

Thank you so much Vivian, Ashley and all your guests for making us feel so relaxed and be a part of your special day.
